Online case status is often incorrect, incomplete, or out-of-date. I would say it is correct about 70% of the time. That leaves a lot of room for error. Please don't think it will "save you" for being late on an RFE response.
You should not think everything is OK simply because online case status fails to mention the RFE being issued. (By the same token, you should not necessarily panic if online case status never acknowledges receipt of your RFE response, even though you have proof from FedEx that you sent it.)

There are only 65,000 visas given for regular H-1Bs and 20,000 for holders of US Master's Degree. As of July 09, only 24,800 regular petitions were filed and 10,600 US Master's petition were filed. The reason for this slow filing is two fold.
Heading into a deeper recession, the economy is definitely a factor. Unlike what most people think, Companies would rather hire US workers, and not pay the $2320/- filing fees plus attorney's fees.
However there are some professions which have a shortage in the US. That is true of computer professionals. But the computer professional market has been bruised by a poorly conceived and legally impermissible memo that CIS promulgated on January 08, 2010. The CIS is their infinite wisdom deemed that professionals need to be "controlled" directly by the petitioning company.
The IT business typically have contracts that go through tiers--- from the petitioning company to the end user. The CIS thinks that this creates "job shop" a four letter word to them.
The Jan 08 memo is startling in how unconstitutional it is---- how it totally disregards the rule of law. The class action lawsuit against it will hopefully see the end of the memo. Meanwhile software companies are outsourcing their business elsewhere.
However if there is a contract using an intermediary, control can be shown if another employee of the same H-1B employer works for the end user and actually supervises the H-1B beneficiary.
For instance if Company A, the H-1B employer has a contract with Company F and Company F has a contract with the end user, Company Bigshot. If Company A has employee X who works for Big Shot too, who supervises employee Y, who is the beneficiary, then control can be established under the January 08 memo. Of course all companies have to provide a ton of document to prove the case.

My 6th year finishes October 2010. My LC is pending for more than one year. If I transfer my H1B from Company A to Company B, Can I get 7th year extension with Company B based on pending Labor with Company A?

I got my receipt number for H1b application and its been more than a week but i still cannot check my status online on USCIS website.
It says case is not found ,even tried calling customer service .
Does it take time to get uploaded online ?
Did anyone else face this problem
I am not getting any information from my employer.

These are so screwed up...
Looks like they are heavily back logged.. (mabye cause the conslate did not accept PIO and OCI applications for almost a month)
I sent in my daughter's OCI for miscelaneous service - move OCI sticker to new passport...
sent it in March and its still not yet reached the consulate..
when I applied the rules said they need a copy of old passport, they later changed the rules and are now saying you need to send orignal passport.
I sent the orignal passport also to them and since then no update -:(
Just impossible to reach them also...am on the phone since the last 2 hours -:( and still waiting...
they do not reply to emails either.
any one else here having trouble with them ?

The EB-5 Immigrant Investors Program is recently extended to September 30, 2012. The statutory requiments of the EB-5 visa are burdensom. Approximately only about 1,000 people a year have immigrated in this category -- just one-tenth of the visa available.
For the regular program, the enterprise must (1) be one in which the person has invested at least $1 million (or at least $500,000 if investing in a targeted employment area), (2) benefit the U.S. economy and (3) create full-time employment for at least 10 U.S. workers.
A business can be used for employment-creation classification by more than one investor, provide that each investor has invested the required amount and the creation of 10 full-time jobs may be attributable to each investor.
The investor is required to enter the U.S. to engage in a new commercial enterprise, i.e., the investor must maintain more than a purely passive role in the new enterprise, and he or she must either be involved in the day-to-day managerial control of the commercial enterprise or manage it through policy formulation.
USCIS does not require retention of employees until a reasonalbe time after conditional visa is issued. Normally, a comprehensive business plan supporting the need for 10 employees within the next two years is acceptable.
The procedure to apply begins with submitting initial evidence with an I-526 petition. If the I-526 petition is approved, the investor becomes a conditional resident for two years. After the two years, the investor has to file an I-829 to remove the condition. to be frank with you guys my friend have a good bank statment and business in his own country he wanna apply for a tourist visa and i recomended for him to have a hotels .... flight reservation but i am still confused about the purpose of the visit actually its not about the purpose its about his chance to get a visa he never been in the US never apply for a visa , dont have any relatives in the US he wanna try his chances to get a visa only ?????

Given the situation for 485 denial. AFAIK, You have an option of filing for H1B (not counted against quota) based on your B's labor approval and pending 140. Once you use the EAD, technically you don't have the H1B status to transfer or extend. Hence, it will require you to go to consulate (b/c approval will come without I94) to stamp, and start working for Company B after you return.

I think this is good thing. This will definitely weed out the fraud cases and maybe free up some visa numbers. If your AC-21 portability is genuine you have nothing to fear. Let them investigate as much as they want.

Isnt the three year extension valid only if you cannot file your I-485 because of retrogression? Once you file your 485, you get only a year?

3. 140 Approved AND Priority Dates NOT Current = 3 year H1 extension

YOU ARE NOT CURRENT . June visa bulletin is over on 30th June. Starting from JULY all EB3 is unavailable.
And I was in the same boat since last 3 months but not got my approval.
No second thought for you other than renewing you EAD/AP.

I was in MI for a long time, so have called them up and have urged them to join IV.
Hopefully they will make the right choice and do the right thing.

A thousand a year is a trickle. My friend has moved to California on an EB5, and found it very easy. For the average Brit with property in the UK the 500,000 Dollar investment is not too onerous. In fact it's probably the easiest way in.
